Here are some tips for choosing a collision repair center. Choosing a repair shop is your decision, not your insurer's. Compare collision centers. Review qualifications by asking about advanced technician training from national organizations such as the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair or the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.

Look for signs indicating membership in industry associations such as the Alliance of Automotive Service Professionals, Automotive Service Association, Society of Collision Repair Specialists, or others. Check the shop's reputation at www.bbb.org (our report may be found here. Reputable shops will stand behind repairs with a warranty covering labor, materials and installation. Don't shop for price alone. The estimate may be too low or the shop might offer poor quality "quickie" repairs. Ask for explanations of very low estimates.

Insurance Notes: Auto Insurer Offering Benefits for Pets Killed in Auto Accidents
According to MSNBC, Progressive Insurance is offering a benefit of up to $500 if a customer's cat or dog is injured or killed in a car accident. Progressive, the nation’s third-largest auto insurer, will not raise rates for the additional coverage. With pet health costs rising, the move could start a trend among insurance providers.
